Portrait series, 2017

Dimensions variable, acrylic paint, ink and mixed media

These portraits are meditations on the idea that even those we know well, are never entirely known to us. The assembled faces are deliberately only partially formed; uncertain as to how much information to provide.

Untitled series, 2015-2016

297 x 420 mm, mixed media on paper

Inspired by a particular type of exhibitionism around photographs of the male body; from the idealised and the erotic to the athletic and the violent, this series uses collage to bring together aspects of masculine culture that are disparate; blood stained boxers unexpectedly meet with the lure of reclining undressed models. The process of fragmentation and re-assembly provides a wider possibility of interpretation than the original photographs allow.
