Work developed and produced from discussion between:

This series developed through collaboration with Graphic Designer Jacquiline Colley and Trading Assistant Harleen Ahluwalia of The Vitol Group. We invited twelve Stock Market Traders from the Vitol group to a tea party and asked them to choose between the beverages tea and coffee. Objects emerged from the performance, such as notes written on napkins, receipts and sugar wrappers. From the discussions we produced objects based on advertsing posters. The typography in the posters draws from colloquialisms and mass media slogans, posing questions of personal preference to hot beverages.

The work explores the everyday activity of choosing a hot beverage in relation to the product distribution and market prices of three core agricultural commodities: tea, coffee and sugar. It was developed in response to a commission for the group exhibition A Cup of Tea Solves Everything, 2009, at the Departure Arts Centre, London and has now become part of an ongoing collaboration and investigation with Harleen Ahluwalia of The Vitol Group.
